We have administered a total of over 64.9 million vaccine doses across the UK, with over 39.3 million people across the UK now having received their first dose and over 25.5 million people having received their second dose - four in ten adults have received two jabs. We're making great strides in protecting our country from this virus thanks to the hard work of the NHS staff, volunteers and the British public and we remain on track to offer a first dose to all adults by the end of July.
There were zero COVID related deaths recorded in the UK today, for the first time since the pandemic began, showing that our plan and vaccines are working in our fight against the virus. The vaccines are clearly working - protecting you, those around you and your loved ones. But despite this undoubtedly good news we know we haven’t beaten this virus yet, and with cases continuing to rise please remember hands, face, space and let in fresh air when indoors, and of course, make sure when you can you get both jabs.
As the data shows, take up of the vaccine has seen extremely encouraging levels, with NHS England announcing the NHS COVID Vaccination Programme has jabbed more than half of people in their 30s in just over a fortnight. More than five million appointments have been made and 53% of people aged 30-39 have received at least one dose since the programme began opening up to the age group on May 13.
Getting vaccinated is the most important step we can take to protect ourselves, our families and our communities against Covid-19. Our trailblazing vaccination programme - the biggest and most successful in NHS history - is another great British success story and a testament to what can be achieved when all four corners of country comes together to defeat this virus.
Janssen’s single-dose COVID-19 vaccine has been authorised for use by the MHRA
On Friday the MHRA approved the single-dose Janssen vaccine for use in the UK - meaning we now have another weapon in our fight against the virus.
Every week our vaccination programme, the biggest and most successful in our nation’s history, continues to make fantastic strides in offering us a way out of this devastating global pandemic. The Janssen vaccine is another boost to our programme - which looks set to hit the incredible milestone of giving 75% of adults across the UK their first jab this week.
Earlier this year, the Janssen vaccine was shown to be 67% effective overall in preventing COVID-19 infection and 85% effective in preventing severe disease or hospitalisation.
Vaccines are our best defence against the virus, and the case for getting vaccinated has never been stronger, which is why the Government is encouraging everyone when you get the call, get the jab.

Roadmap
The Government is continuing to monitor the data in relation to coronavirus as we cautiously proceed with our roadmap – and the Government continues to urge everyone to get a vaccine when offered.
We know that the virus is still present across the country, and the Government is carefully monitoring the data as we look ahead at our roadmap out of lockdown. As we get closer to the next stage of unlocking on our cautious roadmap, the Government will be able to look at the most recent data to assess how we move forwards.
The best way to keep us on track with our roadmap of cautious easing of restrictions and a return to normality, is for everyone to make sure they continue to remember hands, face, space and fresh air – and for everyone get both jabs when offered.
