Recently Rebecca was invited to meet the volunteers who have set up the fantastic Hadleigh Community Fridge Project in Hadleigh Library.
The project was set up by volunteers with the idea of redistributing surplus food from local supermarkets that would otherwise go to landfill.
The community fridge is open between 2pm-4pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. Anyone can take whatever surplus food they want and receive recipe tips and other advice from the dedicated on hand volunteers.
The funding for the fridge was generously sourced by the Hadleigh Community Group, and it was set up with the support of Essex County Council.
The project is signed up with ‘Hubbub’, the environmental charity that’s all about inspiring action that’s good for the environment and is part of the Community Fridge Network.
Next time you are passing by the library when the fridge is open, pop in and see if there is any food you want to take home that would otherwise go to landfill.
