In the summer Rebecca Harris visited the Canvey Island Primary Care Centre to see the new state-of-the-art X-ray machine. Since July it has now seen over 1,200 patients.
The centre was refurbished to provide additional outpatient clinics, a modern physiotherapy suite, and a new, state-of-the-art X-ray machine with two accessible changing areas. These improvements have increased the clinical space, providing a better patient experience at a modern centre that is closer to home for residents in Canvey Island.
Rebecca Harris commented: “I’m glad the new X-Ray machine has seen so many patients since opening re-opening on Canvey. This long awaited service will make a huge difference to people right across the Borough accessing these vital services, reducing waiting times, allowing more tests to take place and most importantly all happening closer to home. I was pleased to support this project as know how many residents will be benefiting.”
The Centre celebrated its official opening this month. Staff from Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, which runs some of the services from the centre, were joined by Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System, Community Health Partnerships, local Councillors.
Jonathan Dunk, Chief Commercial Officer at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We were delighted to join our health and political partners in opening the Centre. This has already started to provide new services to our patients in Canvey Island, with more than 1,200 X-ray and over 400 physiotherapy appointments since it opened in July, which are alongside the midwifery, blood tests and other outpatient services already offered at the Centre.”
The Centre is located at the heart of Canvey Island, reached within 30 minutes by public transport for all of the island's population.
