We have administered a total of 46.6 million vaccine doses across the UK – with over 33.7 million people across the UK now having received their first dose and 12.9 million people having received their second dose. Three in five adults in the UK have received at least one vaccine dose, with one in five adults having received their second dose.
All adults over 50, the clinically vulnerable, and health and social care workers have been offered a life-saving jab – meaning we reached our target for offering a first dose to priority groups 1-9 ahead of schedule.
We are now asking people aged 42 and over and people who'll turn 42 before 1 July 2021 to come forward and get their jab. We remain on track to reach all adults by the end of July - around 53 million people. The latest data is clear:
- Both vaccines reduce the likelihood of serious illness by 60% after one dose.
- They reduce the likelihood of hospitalisation by 80% after one dose in the over 80s too.
- And PHE estimate this vaccine programme has prevented over 10,000 deaths up to the end of March.
