This week, Rebecca Harris attended Diabetes UK’s Parliamentary event, where she met Campaign Champions to hear about the impact of living with diabetes.
4.9 million people in the UK are living with Diabetes. It’s a hidden condition. You might not be able to see it but, if left untreated or undiagnosed, it can cause serious harm. Every week diabetes leads to 190 amputations, 770 strokes, 590 heart attacks, 2,300 heart failure cases and, devastatingly, 500 premature deaths.
If you are worried that you, your child or someone you know may have diabetes, please look out for the signs and symptoms of diabetes – which you can find here. Having some diabetes symptoms doesn’t mean you definitely have the condition, but you should always contact your GP, just to make sure.
Rebecca Harris MP commented:
“It was a pleasure to meet Campaign Champions at Diabetes UK’s event this week and to talk about how the right treatment, support and technology can improve the lives of people with diabetes. I urge everyone to visit their website to view the symptoms of diabetes and if you have any please contact your GP.”
