Rebecca has long been a supporter of Guide Dogs UK and took the chance to catch up with them at Conservative Party Conference to hear more about their recent work.
Guide Dogs UK is the world's largest breeder and trainer of working dogs– 36,000 lives have been transformed through a guide dog partnership since 1931. As well as donations to carry out their good work, Guide Dogs UK are also on the lookout for volunteers to foster future guide dogs and help prepare them for their future role helping transform the life of a blind or partially sighted person. All those who have fostered future guide dogs agree on how rewarding it is.
Guide Dogs UK does more than train and provide dogs, in 2021 alone they provided support 658,730 times to partially sighted people and their loved ones. They delivered 7,434 tailor-made books, enabling children with sight loss to enjoy reading just like their sighted friends as well as delivering 4,280 iPads to children and young people with sight loss.
Rebecca commented: “If you love dogs and have some spare time- you could consider becoming a Puppy Raiser for Guide Dogs. Fostering and providing a puppy with the vital foundation for their future role as a guide dog- who will go on to make an enormous difference to someone living with sight loss.”
