A number of residents have contacted Rebecca about the huge potholes on Canvey Way and Benfleet bridge.
Rebecca has now passed on residents concerns to Essex County Council who have told her today that permanent repairs are scheduled to take place throughout the night on 14th March.
Essex County Highways are unsure yet whether this will require a full road closure or a lane by lane closure but residents should expect delays and possible diversions along Canvey Way if planning to travel that night.
This is a key road route for our Borough and Essex County Councillors Peter May and Andrew Sheldon have been pressing hard to get these works to happen as soon as possible.
Rebecca commented: "I have been pressing Essex County Council to complete these works and I am glad they are now doing so - I am sure we are all looking forward to far smoother journeys on and off the island once they are done!"
Essex County Council carries out regular inspections of roads and pavements on the local network, but they know that issues may come up between these inspections. These could be potholes or other road surface issues, damaged street lights, overgrown trees or missing lit bollards.
You can tell them about maintenance issues online by using the highways reporting tool, linked here.
If you think there’s a risk to public safety, do not report it online, please call immediately on 0345 603 7631 or if you have hearing problems you can use the text phone service on 0345 758 5592.
